Spencer Asah

Spencer Asah (1905 - 1954) was active/lived in Oklahoma.  Spencer Asah is known for Stylized figure-Indian and genre painting.

A painter of Native American subjects, he was born between 1905 and 1910 on a reservation near Carnegie, Oklahoma.  He was brought to the University of Oklahoma by Oscar B. Jacobson in 1926, and with other Native American painters was provided with material and studio space. They later became known as the "Five Kiowas" who exhibited at the Prague Expo in 1928.His tribal name was Lallo.
